Chartright Air Group’s Hangar 64, a new Fixed Base Operation (FBO) at the Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF), with 100,000 square feet of hangar space and 150,000 square feet of ramp. The Spec-Dor door system was designed for a new-build situation, where integration into the overall construction timeline was critical—avoid costly delays. Cartright is Canada’s largest jet charter provider. The new facility addresses aviation demand outside the Greater Toronto Area, doubling their footprint in the Kitchener-Waterloo region.
Engineering challenge Particular focus on constructability, ability of the building contractor to assemble and install within their new-build schedule, and with minimal Spec-Dor support.
Custom solution Specific focus on simplified on-site assembly and streamlined installation workflows tailored to the contractor.
Measured result: Despite having no prior experience with hangar door installation, the building contractor was able to complete the assembly efficiently and successfully, with minimal support from Spec-Dor’s technical team.
